Felt like I needed to start off by saying something impressive that succinctly conveys the feeling of gratitude.
Fuck it—let’s cut the fluff.
Most of my good friends these days come off the internet.
I was in America early Feb, and hung out with Carlos, Laz, Sean and Sarah—all people I’ve met virtually a bunch of times, tweeted at, got on calls with and in Sean’s case, I did some agency work for his newsletter for a year.
I was in the country primarily for Sales Kick Off, which is a big thing in SAAS companies. It was my first time doing such a thing. It was awesome meeting so many people in the business and celebrating those that smashed their targets this past year.
Made me think—I care about this job not because I want to be on that stage, but because I care about the mastery needed to get on that stage. The stage is a by-product.
All in all, I travelled through NYC, Denver, SF (spent an obscene amount on waymos and didn’t regret it) and OC (any fans of the show?)
I stayed in the whitest part of OC called Newport Beach.
No kidding—I was the only brown person there for miles.
Kinda felt like that black guy from “Get out”.
Just kidding…..
But it also felt so nice meeting some old friends on the trip. I met friends from my time in undergrad, and post-grad, too.
I’m 31 in a few months. Seems like this is the age where there’s enough of my past strewn all over world, just enough for me to go most places and find a friendly face.
All to say, I love my life.
It’s super hard having a 9-5 and a 5-9 outside of that, but this is what I used to dream of years ago. Can’t complain having my plate full when I wanted to eat.
There we go, found something motivational.
